Pros

Fun customer base to work with. Being involved with the Fashion Industry at the eyewear level.

Cons

I had worked for Sunglass Hut for close to 20 years. Once Luxottica took over the passion and ability to successfully grow was taken away. When it comes to upper-management.watch what you see and do not listen to what they say it the best advice. As stated in other Luxottica reviews this company hires upper management that has no loyalty to the dedicated lower management and associates. Regionals are not there to motivate you, but to get rid of you (There is a very high turnover). You will work until you are ready to drop from exhaustion. When I left this Company, I had close to 400 hrs. of PTO that I could never use (When I told the Regional that I was exhausted and was ready to drop from constant 60-70 hour work weeks, he said "You need to be in the store making sales not going on vacation"!!! Corporate supports all negative actions from the Regionals, do not waste your time calling HR. HR informs the Regional of the call and issue......this is your nail in your employment coffin.

Pros

Pay day every month and basic commission.

Cons

The mangager would accuse staff of theft, which occurred frequently. Yet it is known that Gary, the manager, once flirted with staff members friends on the shop floor whilst his back turned to a theft occurring. Another example is how he left a member of staff still on probation in the shop by herself during peak time so he could take another member of staff out for lunch, thus allowing another theft to occur. Because of this he fired her with no warning infront of a shop full of customers, therefore going against procedures. A lack of training of basic policy and procedures meant we were left unaware of what to do, we would be threatened weekly with being sacked. If the manager lost his temper we would later find kick and punch marks in the walls upstairs, frequent illegal substances in the building, even consideration of growing substances in the building. Once a pair of frames came in with no delivery note and his words were 'put it on eBay and go half's'. Other great managerial aspects were changing the shift times and dates of staff without letting them know or at least having the ability to see, then threaten them if they didn't work it; leaving a customer half way through transaction to go talk to his girlfriend, texting females who had just handed their cv in asking them out. We would be bad mouthed to one another, which is funny as a team of three, we were certainly close.

Pros

Annual allowance (amount dependent on position) to spend on sunglasses

Cons

- Toxic and corrupt leadership (and this is not said lightly) - Bare minimum pay - Bare minimum annual leave and sick leave benefits (as little as they can give legally) - The company is lessening store hours, meaning no shifts available and constantly understaffed because they don't want to pay employees to rock up - Unprofessional leadership in high positions (who are known to engage in sexual and other types of misconduct with no punishment) - No protection or support from thieves and dangerous people in the general public - constant threats to personal safety with open displays of stock - 9/10 stores don't have a back room or places to store food and belongings, forcing you to buy lunch every day which adds as an expense with already bare minimum pay grade - Blame you for theft when they give no hours to stores to put more people on, take off all locked glass to make the most expensive brands out ready for taking, refuse to hire a security guard for any shop despite thousands of dollars in losses all day. You will eventually get the "kind demotion" conversation or just ousted out completely for this - Unrealistic expectations of store employees with no support or guidance (e.g. make $10,000 between 3-4 people instead of giving us 5-6 people who could make that quickly and address theft) - half hour lunch breaks instead of an hour like most retail and other establishments - limited budgets/access to office supplies - this will probably come out of your own pocket along with water - Nowhere to progress career-wise beyond store manager, as regional managers are 3-5 spots per state, even less as you go up - expect you to do work on your days off (online or come in when its too busy on your RDO) - You will be walked all over by your management and blamed for every issue and short-coming that is their fault so they escape punishment
