We’re very sorry that you feel this way and can assure you that we have principles in place to ensure that our roles are recruited for in the fairest way possible. We encourage employees and managers to have meaningful conversations at their 121s and we also have other communication channels should an employee wish to speak to someone else about any concerns they have, including HR and staff council. As you’re currently working for us, we would encourage you to discuss your concerns either with your line manager or with HR as soon as possible.

Pros

Competitive Pay Decent employee benefits Annual Leave ok

Cons

1. Rewards for the lazy and incompetent and often protected to hide their inability to carry out their duties 2. Hard working and competent staff overlooked and given more work because managers know they will complete and carry out to a high standard 3. Workload not manageable so tasks not completed as well as they should be 4. High expectations with very little support 5. Not enough investment in front line workers ( without us the company would cease to function 6. Bullying not dealt with effectively. There is no where to turn to as all ( HR, management etc) close ranks. The perpetrators are described as ‘ that’s their personality, they’re like that with everyone’. Leaving the victim to suffer and also then being asked to continue and work with the bullies as if nothing really happened. And if they don’t ‘they’ the victim is the one at fault. 7. Repairs department (SMCL) not competent. Contractors paid for work either not carried out or carried out to a poor standard. Rarely the operatives fault, more the admin side. 8. No overtime pay for housing management, instead TOIL offered. Housing staff often work in excess of their contracted hours. The option to have this paid should be given. It’s offered to the maintenance side of the business. 9. Senior management to work as a Housing Officer for a week to see if workload is manageable. Staff are often fire fighting, but the fire could have been avoided in the first place if workloads and tasks were better monitored. HO’s often told of disciplinary action for tasks not completed. There isn’t enough time to complete the tasks! And if they are it is often at the detriment of the staff member, their health and their work/home life balance.

Thanks for your review and we’re sorry to hear of your feedback. We take all concerns very seriously and would always encourage you to discuss them. Should these involve your direct line manager then we would encourage you to speak to an appropriate senior manager or local HR Business Partner in order for this to be looked into where necessary. We also have an established staff council, with local trained staff council representatives who can also provide you with support. Bullying is not tolerated, and we will investigate any type of this behaviour immediately. You can also refer to our Bullying and Harassment Policy and Procedure. We do encourage staff to submit ideas to help improve the business and these are reviewed on a monthly basis. We would certainly welcome improvement ideas that you may have for consideration, and examples of where past ideas have been progressed can be viewed on our intranet. The training provided for Sanctuary Housing staff is reviewed on a regular basis. Should you believe that you have not completed the necessary training for your role we will happily look into this for you. As a current employee we would encourage you to make contact with your local HR Business Partner as soon as possible so that we can discuss your feedback in more detail.

Pros

Decent people on the front line to work with. Wages are above market rate Management are adaptable to change in circumstances and try to support employees

Cons

Upper management are concerned more on savings than development of long standing staff. Inconsistent recruitment process. Difficult to develop a career path due to company politics and feels like if your face don't fit then no amount of hard work will be recognised Workload is unmanageable and creates unnecessary stress for already limited staff levels. Company shows little desire in retaining experienced staff over more cost effective recruitment programs Processes are not being completed due to non user friendly computer system and lack of training support
