Pros

There are good people who work here that have unfortunately been psychologically traumatized by the senior leadership who run this organization. The CEO and the CPO are well aware of the situations that have gone on and have consistently chose to look the other way.

Cons

If you make a valid complaint, it falls on deaf ears and HR and the CPO will look the other way. If they get a bad review they will go to the ends of the earth to have it removed and scrubbed to protect their stock price and CEO. All senior leadership is grossly lacking the basic EI skills and understanding of psychological safety as they believe intimidation is the best way to get employees to do their jobs and dangle the carrot method when telling employees they will get a raise, when in actuality they won't end up giving it. The senior most leadership wants to be everyone friend but lacks the basic understanding of how to properly run the recruitment business in the U.S. The leadership in the new york office is fully proficient in micro managing the consultants and office staff instead of doing any business development. The HR function is a poorly run operation and instead of providing the required support to managers and staff, they just gossip and spy on the managers in NA of what everyone does on a daily basis, including how many times people go down to get a coffee or use the bathroom - it's a joke! If you enjoy a healthy work/life balance and an atmosphere of positivity, please avoid this organization at all costs!

Pros

Good office locations around the world

Cons

The company is falling behind in more ways the one and the culture is on its knees. You will only do well if you are mates with people at the top or if you’re willing to play the game. Toxic environment, people are out for themselves. Everyone in the business who have been there for more than 20+ years are narrow minded and blinkered. They think they know what’s best but they don’t know anything outside of working for RW. A business that had great potential but sadly now has lost it all with the unwillingness to change and investment in the wrong areas (millions spent on an in-house built CRM system that is still not fully functional 3 years on). Discretionary bonus model that will never change, you’ll earn far much more and have a much better experience elsewhere at another agency if you’re looking to do agency recruitment, join a boutique.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are of course disappointed to read your comments. The career progression we offer at Robert Walters is built on hard work and achievement which we are extremely proud of, and we provide complete transparency around the fact that we don’t pay individual commission. Our team-based profit share model is unique in our industry and therefore sets us apart from our competitors – it puts candidates and clients first and ensures that we’re able to competitively reward people for their overall performance and not just how many people they place in jobs. At Robert Walters, we believe in equipping our people for success and are heavily investing in innovative tools, such as our purpose-built customer relationship management system, to help our people remain competitive and support their long-term success. We are of course always open to feedback, so if you’d like to discuss your comments further please contact us at hr.admin@robertwalters.com.

Pros

Some great people (sadly soon to depart)

Cons

New French CEO has introduced a capped bonus in a sales business and then applied it retrospectively - despite the ethics of this being on dodgy ground to say the least (allowing people to work a full 3 months before “revealing” new bonus calculation that will then apply on their past billings), this represents a departure from a contractual discretionary bonus model to one that is formula based - breach of contract? Staff are angry, upset and distraught to be treated in this way with many now financially vulnerable in the lead up to the Christmas period. Such a shame and a sad end to what WAS a great UK business - there is no coming back from this and mass exodus will follow with a total collapse in UK fee income.
