Pros

There is a thirty percent discount that sometimes gets bumped up to forty percent when the company is desperate for money.

Cons

Part time hours highly fluctuate. There is no actual training. Managers are extraordinarily unintelligent (read: can't pronounce colander). You can never do anything right, management always focuses on the negative. You won't be promoted until the person above you either dies or gets pregnant and leaves the company. High percentage of female employees that creates a hostile work environment for heterosexual men. Inconsistently applied rules. Nepotism runs rampant come promotion time. Extraordinarily clique centered work environment. They hate unions, like really really hate them because god forbid employees ever get any minor bit of power. Customers get whatever they want leading managers to blame employees for following the rules. Product knowledge is so disastrously poor that managers often can't explain the function of some of the merchandise. Benefits are a joke.

Pros

Great product and the ability to be creative in merchandising. Discount is nice. Able to furnish my place well below what customers pay.

Cons

Pay is sup-par with similar stores. Advancement is very slow and can take years to move up to Store Manager position.

Pros

Very friendly people ( can feel almost like family) beautiful store with great product, great discount starts at 30%, then goes to 40% after Five years. Benefits for full time, health care and dental- must pay out of paycheck, but reasonable prices. Can be flexible with schedules if part time.

Cons

If you do work full time it can take a toll on you. Retail is not easy wherever you are, and while Crate is probably a step above many other retailers, it is still retail, and you cannot help feeling stuck in a job that may not go anywhere. The only thing that keeps you going sometimes is the great people that you work with, most of which are part time. This place has many employees that have been with the company for a long time which has to show for something, but their are still many flaws in the company that many in the company choose to ignore. Management will often ignore issues and certain problem people because they don't want to deal with the problem, which is B.S. if you ask me, but I guess every work place deals with politics.
