Pros

Ability to sell over 100 brands of apparel, uniforms, equipment, branding, etc. Some territories have great management that will guide you and help grow your business. Company is recognized across the industry as a leader by coaches and vendor partners Fairly easy to get a sale if you're in an established market Company is introducing a ton of technology to help differentiate and streamline the sales process from competition (I see as a pro) The work life balance is up to you, if you want to work from home 4 out of 5 days you can do so.

Cons

School agreements for Nike / UA deals guarantee sales BUT the schools are given 'comp' dollars to spend on apparel and uniforms. You don't make a dime off those orders yet you have to fulfill all needs of the project. Personally fulfilled $150k+ in orders for schools. In addition, some agreements are so heavily 'negotiated' by districts that even when you do sell uniforms, some orders are almost half off AND buy one get one. If you're a Field Sales Pro, the only way you can move up financially is by selling over $1 million+ or someone finally retires and you can move up into management.

Pros

Interacting with AD's, Coaches, Students. Selling the Top Of The Line Products in the industry. All the tools you need to get the job done. Some of the managers actually care about you but it is very rare.

Cons

You're just a number! Literally it's just about your mark up % and total sales. If you don't write at lease 1 million dollars in sales at least a 45% margin you are a P.O.S. and if you can do that then be ready to be asked to increase you sales by 5% each year all while accounts are taken away from you due to the many acquisitions that BSN makes buying up as many smaller sporting goods dealers it can. Then they will cherry pick who and what they want from those acquisitions and slowly weed out the rest giving your accounts away to other sales pros because they are closer or doing some sort of business with the account . It happens behind closed doors and they keep you blinded to what is really going on. They will lie to your face! All your travel expenses come out of your pocket and to be successful there you need to be on the road at least 3 days a week. Adam Bloomfield is a bold faced liar so don't trust a word he says.
