Pros

As long as you show up and work, you'll always have a job. They need the bodies.

Cons

- Salary is insufficient for the work done, in some areas of the warehouse. - Not enough workers or equipment. - Favoritism, in my opinion. - No upward mobility. Don't expect to get promoted to a manager in 5 years. - Just overall, not a good experience, you feel cheated, just a temporary job. - EXTREMELY BAD BENEFITS!!! They don't pay for some national holidays and they have a weird vacation time calculation system. In short, you don't get your vacation after a year like most normal jobs.

Pros

Management listens to employees that bust their butts to move up. They promote from within quite a bit more than most retail companies.

Cons

Pay just above min. wage when you start unless you have 3-5 years in the business. Upper (Regional and Corporate) Management could recognize an alternator or a starter 7 times out of 10. They know nothing about auto repair.

Pep Boys is an ok place to work as a stop ove

Pros

If you like cars it is an ok place to work. Repeat retail and commercial customers are a nice change from the normal retail trafic. Compensaion is average if you come from outside the company and are willing to haggle alot.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations from corporate. Company pushes customer service but does not allow management the time to deal with customers. Medical insurance is expensive for mediocre plans. If your in retail stay away, company is becoming completely service oriented.
