Heading off a cliff

Pros

Compensation and benefits. Friendly people. Work-life balance is great.

Cons

Leadership from the CEO and throughout teams including marketing have an inability to strategize, plan, and execute. CEO says a lot of good but does not follow through. Nothing is accomplished. Everything is poorly thought through. Product hasn't seen innovation in years. Our competitors innovate and then we try to urgently chase them. Too many layoffs and reorgs to count just in 2023. Very large customers are seeing this, and they are not renewing contracts and choosing competition instead. I do not know how much longer the company can be on this path. And more layoffs and reorgs are anticipated. There is no incentive to stay at Medallia anymore let alone join. It is an unhealthy environment and has been for almost two years.

A complete mess

Pros

Vibrant attitude and youthful spirit in terms of what they believe they can be and get done. We are so close to our greatness but so far...

Cons

Reality. This place is it's own worst enemy. Youthful ignorance in key roles trying to drive enormous change with not a clear understanding of how to do it. I have interviewed competent people who could come in and support our organizational growth but our recruiting process is also lack luster.

Pros

* Benefits * Unlimited PTO * Not a lot of oversight

Cons

* The upper management stack for security is more interested with looking good than doing the right thing * Feedback is not taking cyclically, funny for a CEM company * Security senior management doubled down on low morale citing that "It wasn't the lowest in the company" (It was the second lowest) * A culture of loudest voice wins * If you say something or do something that the management stack doesn't approve of, they give you the silent treatment for a few months. * You're only valuable if you make your managers look good * Limited to no recognition of contributions * You don't have a voice unless you are a manager * Your management doesn't look out for you if you're doing quality work and undervalued yourself (compensation) * There's a trapped feeling if you came here and you're trying to clear citizenship requirements

Medallia Response

As the new leader of Medallia’s Trust and Assurance Security Group, I can confirm that we take feedback from the team very seriously and do our best to address all concerns and adopted a mindset to continuously improve. Our team, like the rest of the organization, uses an annual strategy roadmap to guide our quarterly priorities and objectives. The Medallia learning and delivery process also includes weekly leadership team meetings and company open forum discussions. We encourage all Medallians to fully participate and share ideas to make our workplace the best it can be during our Firesides, departmental All-Hands and quarterly employee surveys to ensure an open forum and regular opportunity to solicit feedback in a variety of channels. Part of my own decision to join the team was based upon first-hand observation of Medallia’s practice of soliciting and acting on employee feedback, so it’s concerning to me that you may not feel your voice was heard nor feedback accounted for authentically. If you’re open, I welcome an email to discuss your own experiences, so that I may take your experiences into account as our team continues to grow. - Geoff, Chief Security Officer
