Pros

- Some really great staff (and managers too!) - The Owner has a way to sniff out the people who want to add value (and those who dont) - Genuinely did all they could to make it a great place to work, despite the stigma attached to the industry (rightly or wrongly) - some great examples of turning high maintenance employee's that other employer's wouldn't give a chance too into valuable members of staff (and took a few back who didn't find that greener grass)

Cons

- Always a challenge to attract good staff when its a product and a method of attracting customers which has had so much negative press over the years (not Crystal's fault). - High turnover of staff, again i dont think this is down to the company or the management, just the nature of the beast - That Purple book - always a sense of dread when Tony opened it up!

Dear Reviewer. Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's funny, I think. Our industry (CMCs) emerged due to what another industry did in the past (banks). Evidently, banks have better PR machines than CMCs. Without CMCs who would look out for the average UK consumer? Let's not allow the banks win the PR war! At Crystal, we provide an important and ethical service for those not comfortable in taking on high street lenders alone. We've completely changed our model recently to web generated enquiries-no more outbound cold calling. Thanks for the feedback. Tony. CEO

Not really worth the effort

Pros

Some employees do well by putting in the hard effort and it pays off. There are good opportunities for a few people who catch the eye of management. The small company means that people know each other and it creates a bit of a family atmosphere which is nice to work in.

Cons

Although some employees who work hard get recognised, many others do not. Talent is often overlooked by some managers (emphasis on "some", as others were very good) and employees were disregarded for opportunities. So many employees ended up doing the same thing over and over whilst others had variety and ended up being promoted. It became very "clicky" and this was one of the reasons I left. Pay could have also been better but (as my manager actually said to us) "beggars can't be choosers"! Not the worst place I've worked but it definitely had its fair share of problems.

Thanks for your comments. I think it is fair to say that we are on a journey to create the very best working environment we can and that in some areas we are achieving that but there is still work to do. We, the management team, remain committed to making Crystal a Destination Employer and your feedback is helpful. I wish you success in your future career. Tony Shields CEO

Pros

I started working here as a temp from a recruitment agency but then moved to a full time contract. HR and Recruitment acted quickly to get me started. The company has a standard way of doing things so it's easy to work out what you have to do and stick with it. This means employees have stability on day to day activities.

Cons

Many of the team leads lack fundamental training in managing people. But, even more importantly, they lack the values, sensitivity, and awareness needed to interact effectively all day long with people. Throughout my time here they have failed to create standards and give people clear expectations so they know what they are supposed to do.
