Pros

Pros are a handful of great people and a decent discount.

Cons

The pay is better than a lot of other retail stores but employees are still underpaid for the work they do. Management cares more about sales goals and numbers than their people. They preach being an inclusive and diverse company but that wasn’t reflected in the store staff. Some decent managers but most have a poor attitude and condescending way of talking to employees, especially when people are confused about something. They definitely have favorites and underestimate the people they don’t think meet their expectations. I can’t speak for the whole company but I can say the culture at this store is trash. There is no camaraderie whatsoever. Leadership is so quick to criticize but I rarely heard a “thank you” or any positive feedback about my work. I felt like I gave ideas that were constantly met with pushback because leadership is so set in an outdated way of doing things.

Do NOT work here!

Pros

Some of my fellow coworkers, the employee discount, temporary outdoor break room, the fact that we didn't have to pay for parking when other companies made their employees pay.

Cons

I liked working here at first, but the pay sucks! You can get paid better working for an In n Out burger and get treated better. People call out all the time for illnesses they don not have, because they say they are so unhappy with their jobs. I've witnessed on several occasions, senior management yelling at my fellow employees on the sales floor and customers are within an ear shot. They yelled at one employee for their low email capture and another for not opening enough credit cards. I've heard them yell and berate others over the walks, this was all very upsetting and extremely uncomfortable. I even witnessed some of the management behaving rude towards customers. I never felt safe during Covid. They allowed unvaccinated employees to take their masks off in the communal break room and sometimes on the sales floor. I've heard since I quit, over a dozen people either quit or were fired. In the middle of the BLM movement, their CEO, a woman of color, stepped down and in her place was another white woman. This company is tone-deaf. They lie and tell you you can only get raises once a year, but that's not true. Another coworker was telling people that she received three raises that year. People talk to each other so stop lying to your employees.

Pros

Good healthcare and some great people work for the company.

Cons

Crate & Barrel once was a great company to work for, but now the company seems to be having major issues and is trying to hide those issues. The pay is low & it does not treat its employees well anymore. Does not promote often from within.
