Pros

Flight "benefits". Discounted tickets ON STANDBY.

Cons

No money to use said tickets. Work life balance impossible when you're junior. Even 4-5 years into the company it's not possible to juggle easily. The CEO really doesn't care about the employees; only lining his pocket with money. The previous CEO was better. And alot of the work is unpaid.

Pros

I wouldn't recommend this particular position to anyone who has a stable job currently or looking to enter into the aviation industry. This post only reflects my experience as station attendant. The first step in the probation process is to obtain a D/A AVOP license. This allows you to operate a vehicle on airside. This is required to pass the probation. You must pass this test without being provided any practical experience driving airside. Unfortunately this results in many candidates being unable to pass the testing and being terminated from the job within 3 days of training. You are informed in your offer letter that your manager will work with you to set expectations and provide expectations as needed. Lets be real here. Imagine having to take a practical test with no practice first. Would you consider that to be adequate coaching in any other industry? Driving on airside is more complicated then driving in the city. Understandably the test is significantly harder to pass.

Cons

It is important to note that YVR airport provides the option to re-take the practical testing within 7 days of training starting. Air Canada's trainers however conduct the practical drivers test and only give you one chance to pass. They will not give a second chance despite the allowance by YVR. I myself received a score of 100% on the knowledge test after studying for the test only to fail the first practical drivers test on a technicality at the near the end of the test. In my opinion only one chance is given due to the number of applicants in each class exceeding 30 and the company not wanting to spend the additional funds or time to conduct driving tests on the other persons who fail the first time. My advice to people considering applying to this job without any airside experience should consider whether or not they truly believe they will be successful in passing an airside driving test on the first try without any driving practice. If your not successful your basically screwed. The failure rate for the practical test is high. The knowledge test is easy if you put the time in to study.

Pros

Travel benefit, actually not really as it’s standby passenger, you don’t have confirmed seats. You will have to wait till everyone got on before you!

Cons

In my 35 years of working experience, this is the worst management I ever encountered. They treat you like enemies, if they don’t like you, they will kill you! If you wanna experience what chinada is, go join them, the current management team will treat you like crazy no respect from the top to the bottom, managers don’t respect the staff, they gave you letters like no tomorrow, then they build the case from there. It’s frustrating dealing with this kind of management, they never encourage the staff if you do something wrong they punish discipline you. Agents are scared all the time, management backstabbing the agents, so many bad things, can’t finish all at once.
