Pros

Great training trips. That's about it.

Cons

Management is a massive problem. They've created an incredibly toxic corporate culture that is very pervasive. It's nepotism at its finest with people in leadership roles that are barely qualified to lead a Cub Scout pack. Management did not offer much support for travel staff during the COVID pandemic, instead mocking employees and dismissing concerns when employees were forced back into offices without proper safeguards or protections. The decision to do this was made by Management, directors, and VPs who could work from home without fear of contracting a highly contagious, potentially deadly virus and spreading it to loved ones at home. It really showed how valued front line employees truly are and it was my final straw with a company that had incredible expectations for little compensation. Yeah they say you get incentives to justify the low hourly wage but it's a field where the goal posts continually move and coaching is a joke. Avoid this hypocritical, toxic company at all costs.

We thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at AAA. We are very sorry you didn't have a great experience during your time here, and it's true that working at AAA isn't for everyone. Change is constant in our business, and we value our Team Members and their insight. We were a little disappointed to hear your comments about how management was out of touch with their employees and did not offer much support. If you would like to share any further information about your experience with us, please email us at reviews@aaamidatlantic.com. All feedback will remain confidential and will be passed along to the appropriate business lines to help us influence positive change at AAA.

Pros

Decent salary, friendly co-workers, decent hours

Cons

I used to work at AAA Hartford, which then became AAA Hartford/Cincinnati. Then it merged with Kansas, Bluegrass, and finally AAA Mid-Atlantic, when it was then called AAA Alliance. With each merger, the company became more corporate. We slowly lost the company picnic, holiday parties, employee outings, and recognition as individuals. More rules were put in place for how your desk should look, how many photos you could have up in your cubicle, exactly when you took your breaks, and a bunch of people were laid off.

Pros

+ I worked with some AMAZING colleagues + Being able to working 100% remote (though there aren’t many 100% remote positions there now)

Cons

- I was essentially lied to about my job. I applied to another position but got an offer for a different position and was told I would still be able to do the job I applied to and then would eventually add on the responsibilities of the job they offered. That never happened. It worked out fine overall, but I didn’t like that they lied to me during the job offer about what my job was going to be. - Pay is not competitive, benefits are very expensive, and merit increases are a joke. Your “merit increase” is really more a cost of living increase, but you won't really see it because you’ll be paying more for benefits each year. Advice: you better ask for well above your offer because you’ll never see anything substantial. If you’re remote, make sure they set up your taxes correctly or you’ll end up paying a return during tax time. - ACA’s behind on the times in certain areas, such as technology (ex. using Office 2016 and Skype). - Not all, but many in leadership don’t care about employee satisfaction and retention. It’s harder when it’s your direct supervisor who’s egotistic and sexist, and would rather hire someone from outside the company (who's a man) than give an employee on their team a promotion (who's a woman and has more experience) because they want another man on their team. - When you go to upper management about a discrimination issue or you find out you’re getting paid way below your pay grade or below someone else new to the company who’s in the same or lower position than you though you have more experience, management will find some way to justify it. HR is supposed to be a department where you can go to for support and guidance, but what’s more important to them is what’s best for the company, even if that means having employees be discriminated against, unsatisfied, and underpaid. This happens a lot in companies, but having worked in HR and seeing this up close made it difficult and unmotivating to do my job. Before I got a new boss, I would’ve gave ACA 3 stars. With the boss I had when I left, my rating drops due to witnessing discrimination on our team and nothing was done about it when it was brought to upper management.
