Pros

Joined Wise around 18 months ago. Things were good in the beginning and honestly it was a good step for me as I was pursuing the european dream at that stage when I joined.

Cons

Later on after the changes that are happening on daily basis and FYI, the CS who is getting underpaid MUST be aware of everything and all updates despite other departments who focus on 1 thing or 2 but us the CS we must know everything and keep ourselves updated all the time which is still fine if you can find the info easily but hell no, we have a very complicated internal knowledge base that you need to have a PHD in KBs I believe or smth to understand the contradictory info here or there (if you find the info even) They hired some guys in some management positions like 6-7 months ago. They know how to cut cost pretty well and they dont give a damn about the mental health of the employees anymore like they used to before.

Pros

- no uptight corporate bull$#!t - remote working is welcome - still growing after over a decade

Cons

- they work very hard to pretend they're still a startup - the pay is way below market, even if they insist it's not - work/life balance in non-existent: they pretend work starts at 9 and ends at 5, but in effect you're expected to give more - ageist, non-inclusive tech-bro mentality (lots of inclusivity initiatives, but it's all whitewashing, greenwashing and pinkwashing - corporate culture borders on cultish - they have their own language and like to pretend it's a humanitarian mission, not a for-profit multi-billion-dollar corporation - there's no cushion to fall back on: you're only good for them while you're at your prime. As soon as you get sick or hit some personal roadblock your days are numbered and nobody will give you the time of day - end of the day, they'll exploit you to the bones and spit you out

Pros

Good pay, good company with lots of queer people. Tons of moveup opportunities. Was literally perfect until the company went public and stockholders ruined it. Benefits were amazing, you could call out as much as you wanted as long as you had the pto -- which was 7.8 pto and 4 sick hours per pay period. So you got lots and could take mental health days literally anytime with no one judging you.

Cons

Now that stock is public, the new big ones in charge have decided that this job is just a waste of money. They cut spending on the location, food, meetings, and you. Theres no more salary raises or considerations, and theyre ACTIVELY squeezing your role and making it panic-attack inducingly stressful to try to get you to leave so they can replace you with cheap outsourced labor from india who ISNT qualified to do a job this f*cking crazy and specific. Get in and move up fast, but good luck because as good as your teamleads will be to you, the stockholders will always have a new unrealistic demand that is literally impossible to achieve and will suck your soul out. As another example, we used to be able to do upwards of 30+ cases in an HOUR perfectly. When I left, they f*cked our tooling so bad with cheaper options that the best anyone could possibly do was 2 an hour. This company has some SERIOUS communication and production problems. Literally don't know how they f*cked it up so bad. Thank f*cking god for the leads.
