Pros

-They make an effort to do team building activities, offer small incentives for performance and have good training programs. -I learned a lot about marketing, social media and event planning. -They'll try to sell you on how easy it is to move up, but take it from someone who spent 2 years here, there are many avenues to promotion in this company, but doing your work, hitting your KPI's , going above and beyond will not get you there. You might get a shout out or an "award" but great performance is not rewarded with anything of real value.

Cons

-They micromanage from the top down, expecting the best of the best and assigning you multiple different roles under your singular job title, while paying below average and undercutting you on raises. -After being given a paltry raise, you will likely see their job postings advertising higher wages for brand new hires. Soon, you'll be the long time employee with 4 years experience, training someone new to the industry, with no experience, who is being paid more than you are. -Every phone call you receive is recorded and intensely scrutinized. -They track everything you do and it doesn't matter if you're above average in 9/10 things, they will focus on the 1 thing you fell just short of. -There is a LOT of nepotism, favoritism, discrimination based on looks and inappropriate employee/management personal relations. -There is a lot of drama and wildly inappropriate behavior on the part of many of the property managers that upper management simply ignores. -They will promise you raises and promotions, raising their expectations higher and higher, but these things never come to fruition. You will just end up burned out. -You can make much higher commissions and base salaries selling in other industries.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you found the marketing skills you learned to be a positive note. We do have many metrics and high standards for promotion however we built a valuable support system to ensure you have guidance and encouragement along the way. We hope that you were able to discuss your frustrations or goals with your mentor and if not your mentor, your Property Manager, Area Director, Vice President or the People Services department. Our focus is our people and in order to ensure we are molding our associates into the best they can be, we have to have metrics and measurements in place for growth to begin. While you mentioned recorded phone calls as a "con", we can see a direct correlation with overall performance and phone performance and its an easy tool to use to take notes on things we can improve on. Specifically, things we may not even realize we are doing that are holding us back. The focus should not be on the one mistake you made and if you were made to feel that way, please reach out to the People Service Department as the ultimate goal is growth and learning.

Pros

Training and Sales development, structure

Cons

Honestly, VG sold me on their company when I was first interviewing. And at first, it wasn't that bad. I had worked in property management for a few years before and nothing had been as structured as VG. But the higher up in rank I became, the more my eyes were opened to the "Upper Management World." And believe me when I say, upper management is seriously in their own world. The gossip and things being said about me behind my back was unbearable. And I am a strong advocate for mental, physical, and emotional health, so I left VG. Tried bringing my concerns to upper management and they made me feel like I was inadequate to do my job. Oh, and don't bother talking to HR. They make you feel like you're being unreasonable and won't believe anything you try to tell them anyways (and here I thought HR was supposed to be unbiased?). Very disappointing experience.

Hello, we are disappointed to hear your experience was not positive and would like the opportunity to discuss your circumstances further. We have several different avenues of communication available to you and all associates to ensure you are comfortable disclosing any personal or private information if a problem arises. You may reach out directly to your VP, mentor, or any persons in the People Service's Department. We also offer confidential, free, external services for mental, physical, and emotional health if needed. An enjoyable and productive workplace is one of the key measures to our success and we would appreciate your recommendations to ensure the standard is being met throughout.

Pros

The healthcare was a low price

Cons

Literally the worst company I’ve ever worked for. The work life balance was terrible. The company only sides with residents and not their property managers. They write you up without even asking the employee side of situations. They air too much on the side of political correctness. You aren’t even allowed to ma’am or sir now. The software is the oldest most error filled software available for the industry. I was not allowed to leave to pick my sick child up from daycare so I turned in my keys and left.
