Pros

They hire within and they offer a lot of training opportunities for you to choose from to advance your career within the company.

Cons

I don't have any real cons just yet but I wish they had more locations in the US to transfer between.

Pros

Encountered some great team players at various sites. Good sales training foundation. High ownership and responsibility in sales role. You are handed the keys to million dollar assets. It is a privilege to be ambassador of the brand and face of the company.

Cons

Encountered unsavory hires with poor management and professional skill set, i.e., Property Managers that cannot spell, use poor grammar and use scare tactics to manage and control. Too many hoops to move up an inch. They pick and choose who they advance. It is a bit of a bubble gum environment. At the end of the day, apartment leading is a fairly simple commodity. This business does not exactly attract higher thinkers. Too many simpletons at this company. Outdated computer systems. Plenty of redundant work and processes. Thug mentality on the part of management. Property management is pretty inhospitable. It is a rough daily environment. Move 'em in, move 'em out. Lots of fear based management and scare tactics if your site is underperforming. I would not invest in VG's culture. Those that do well here drink the VG Kool Aid by the gallon. You will lose your identity here. Run. You can do much better.

Don't be fooled by false positive reviews. They are fabrications.

Pros

If you can stay under the radar and avoid working at the corporate office, it could be an ok place to work for a short period of time.

Cons

The number one reason this is not a good place to work is evident by all of these "positive" reviews that are being written all of a sudden. The company's top leadership and/or PR department is no doubt writing these themselves. How could a company have such extremes for a reputation? Most reviewers talk about how awful it is, then you have glowing reviews that are eloquently written saying the exact opposite. Don't believe these positive reviews; they are most likely fake and written by the same person. The cons: Too many politics, manipulation, backward thinking, counter productivity, fire drills to avoid the owner's wrath, finger pointing and backstabbing. If you want to flourish in an environment where you are surrounded by colleagues you can learn from and respect, this is not the company for you. If you want to be in a state of constant stress and fear, this is the company for you. Do yourself a favor and find a job somewhere, anywhere, besides here.
