Pros

Play is standard for the industry.

Cons

Do not trust the glowing reviews, as they are obviously written by corporate types and sycophants. I worked there for a year after they bought the original company out from under us, and they wasted no time in setting everyone up for failure. All of the original employees of the bought-out company left in disgust, except for a few holdouts who were too desperate to leave. Better yet, don't believe any of the reviews; instead, go to work for VG and see for yourself how dysfunctional a company can be. But, if you've never worked in apartment management before, you'll have no point of reference to judge by. I, however, worked in the apartment business for thirty years, and while it is a tough environment full of drama, where everything is an "emergency" and you spend your day "putting out fires" and dealing with spoiled---even delusional---residents, VG ratchets-up the drama by playing suppliers off against each other while parts aren't being ordered and residents are getting angry. They often don't pay their bills, so that you have to rush like mad to find another supplier to order from---and that's on a good day. Much more can and does go wrong. For instance; last I heard, they still haven't replaced the inoperable sewage pumps at the property I worked at because they still haven't accepted a bid---quibbling over pennies on an urgent necessity while freely spending more than half as much on pool furniture without batting an eye. And that situation has been festering for nearly a year. Fortunately for the residents, they've had a portable system in place until they make up their minds. But, like I said, don't take my word for it. Work for VG, and if you like it, there's something very wrong with you and you deserve each other. If you see the company for the farce that it is, then rest assured, your sanity is at least partly intact---then run screaming into the night while you're still sane.

Pros

Commissions, Commissions, Commissions. There is money to be made, if you have the drive to get you those "No's" to "Closes" by far the best commission structure in Property Management. You also create a family like relation with your team. Top Closers list again if you work hard you will get the gratification and recognition you deserve. We have the best customer service, "We Care" Philosophy is truly instilled into all the employees.

Cons

Because of the growth that has been happening, all of the "all stars" have been pulled in different directions, leaving sites short staffed. I wish there was a "Sales Appreciation Day" We have it for Managers and Maintenance, but our sales leaders don't get the appreciation they deserve. Give the site level a "New Hire Site Level" checklist on what they should know by day 15, 20, etc. I think NHO is fantastic, but there needs something implemented onsite.
