Pros

Large company should = large projects. Normal benefits for a reasonable employer. Nice location downtown San Jose. Able to reasonably buy clients lunch with a company credit card.

Cons

Painfully discriminatory to women. Absolutely no upward mobility for women. NO BIM expert, no revit expertise in San Jose. No decent estimators. Some good PM's. Teams had repeated Poor interview performances for winning project RFP's I delivered. Turner knowingly mislead clients with false low estimates, then change-ordered them excessively, leading to anger and mistrust by clients. No repeat clients due to this terrible reputation. Disrespectful, careless and rude management attitude toward women especially, overall. This was a painful mistake on my part, accepting this position with a man I had never trusted in the industry. Pursuing a salary is usually a mistake and I made it.

Pros

Turner offers great health benefits which can be extremely helpful for families. Unfortunately, providing excellent health insurance is where Turner's concern for their employee's families begins and ends. Other than that, I can't think of any other pros.

Cons

As many other posts have suggested, Turner is a great place to work if you are one of the few who have been "chosen." While companies in all industries should review the future success of their employees and help said employees get on the right career path, Turner's way of "anointing" its employees is based on outdated perceptions instead of rational characteristics and strengths. Senior management runs the company similar to the way a high school bully runs the playground during recess. Those in the Turner boys club who scream the loudest, intimidate the largest amount of people and squash any progress or alternative ways of approaching work are held in the highest regard.

Pros

Turner is an old company with somewhat old ways of thinking. In today's fast moving 'employee experience' focused culture, it can be hard to want to see faster growth. I was told while there that they are more like a cruise ship than a speedboat. They do turn, but they do so slowly. That said - you can rely on the fact that they pay attention to changing trends and support staff in growth constantly. Although they might not adopt new technologies overnight, if you can prove the value, they'll embrace it. You feel like you're a part of a family at Turner and I truly believe they care about each employee at their core.

Cons

Upward mobility is slow, and steady. It's hard to get promoted at Turner if you're not a rock-star employee or you're not part of the inner circle of whoever happens to be steering your business unit or your department at the time. Positions do change often, and movement around to different roles is possible, but as you evolve to larger roles the line you have to wait in for bigger positions gets longer, unless there happens to be a slot available which can stifle someone who is pushing for more aggressive growth.
