Pros

Very good people who are highly trained and motivated.

Cons

Planning structure at the top is weak. The people that are to do the job don't have much say in the job estimate at the beginning. When they are handed the job they are usually behind the eight ball right at the beginning. In some cases the job cannot be accomplished as estimated because the person who estimated the job doesn't know themselves the scope and possibilities of the job.

Pros

It's very challenging. You're given many opportunities to prove yourself and take a problem and turn it around into a success.

Cons

It's very micro-managed, very little room to move up the ladder or grow with the company; and it doesn't seem to matter that you've saved them over $1 million in a 10 year period as I did. I didn't even get a pat on the back, and when times get tough, they kick you out the door. Annual raises are almost non-existent and only about 3% annually no matter how well you performed - or how well the company did and it does quite well most of the time. I audited I annaul payroll reports and kept an eye on the "state of the business memos". Also, unless you were one of those selected as their elite you didnt' seem to get a promotion or decent raise, just more work. I'm not sure how one becomes their elite, I can only speak from my experience of what I saw and that it seemed to be that unless you removed all your competition to protect yourself and keep your job by claiming credit for your employees accomplishments; you lost out and being the employee they stole the credits of, you didnt' have an opporunity to challenge them. If you did challenge them, you were blacklisted. There are some very good moral people there, but they will not come to your rescue as they are trying to keep their job. They state they have an open door policy, but they do not. They also do not start you out with good pay. I saw and heard many hard workers complain who had low morale because of the way they were treated after many years of working there loyally. TransCore would make a good stepping stone to a much better place, but not a place to make a career.
