Pros

There are no good reasons.

Cons

Basically everything! I left due to something which happened personally, and I left in mind with a full months pay as you get paid a month behind. E.g you work June, you'll get paid it the end of July etc. Well, due to the reasons I left, they withheld my P45 from me, until they received the uniform back, I was then told that £150 would be taken from my pay for uniform and course fees, when I gave my uniform back.. I was also threatened with letters from them saying they were planning on getting the police around to collect the uniform as I am withholding it from them. This was a lie as due to not being able to drive it was difficult for me to get to them and I made them aware of this. But now apparently after working the whole month of July and a week of August, I am due £0. Also, the staff and the atmosphere is very stressful and it is unnecessary. I understand that the job is important and there are a lot of rules which need to be followed to the word, but even when things run smoothly there's still a lot of stress coming from other members of staff which is not needed. Also I was told there would be opportunity for progression, I saw 0 with my time there not just for myself but other members of staff who had been there a long time also. The hours are hard, sometimes not long, but difficult to adjust to, and breaks.. What are breaks?? I did a 10 hour shift once and was not offered a break at all and was put on check in and boarding on after another so even if I was offered I couldn't have taken it anyway. There are no perks from the job neither, no discounts, no double pay on bank holidays or after a certain time. How would I sum it up? - underpaid, over stressed, not worth it.

I am sorry about your experience working for Swissport at Cardiff Airport. I cannot discuss individual cases but please contact the station HR team directly if you feel you have been mistreated. Some of the other more general comments I can assist with: We do have a weekly job opportunity bulletin available to all staff either by email or posted in restrooms. this bulletin has details on all available roles within Swissport UK, Ireland and Swissport International. Swissport is a customer service focused company working in some very demanding situations including Airport Disruptions, Aircraft Delays and Cancelations. Our staff may have to adjust their shift and/or break times to assist in these situations but they are not only appreciated but recompensed where necessary for their inconvenience. Again I am sorry about your personal issues with the company

Our Operational staff do an amazing job dealing with deviations/delays to tight Airline schedules; issues due to Security/Weather/Air Traffic Control/Technical Aircraft/Passengers etc and of course the unsociable working hours. Working for Swissport in an Operational Role be it Customer Services Agent or Airside (Ramp) Agent or even Lead Agent, we can only guarantee you two things: ‘Every day is different, no two days are the same…” And we care!
