Pros

It's not bad, if you are going to school. At my store, at least, they work well with students. Good associate discount -- 20% on softlines, 10% on hardlines, even on clearance items (unless you are using a third-party credit card, then that discount goes away). If you work 1000 hours in a year on your anniversary date, you start accruing vacation time a little every week (part-timers, at least). If you don't care about your job and try to do the least you can, you will probably get away with it.

Cons

If you do care, it's horrible. You are constantly having to repair what not only customers, but your fellow associates have broken. You will make minimum wage, regardless of how much experience you have, and how many job duties you have, and as of today, there is no hope of a raise, as there is a freeze in place. If there are no price changes, planograms, or other projects to do, you will get no hours. Your hours will vary wildly depending on what is going on, but more often than not, you will be getting less than 25 (probably much less), even though absolutely nothing is being completed as it is supposed to be, and your area will look horrible. The more you care, the more this hurts. It hurts even more when you realize that you are making the same amount as your coworkers who are helping to destroy your area by moving out merchandise and putting it in places that you just cleaned up the day before. Management will do nothing to stop this, and the cycle will continue. You will clean, it will look nice, your coworkers will come out, dump merchandise wherever, you will clean it . . . . Coachings are done unfairly, with some people getting away with things that others are being written up for. There is no 401k match anymore. There are no full-time MCAs at my store, as they would have to be given benefits that Sears is not willing to give. There are scheduling difficulties, too. You only get the schedule a few days before the week starts, and it often changes during the week. Sometimes, you won't be told this is going to happen ahead of time, and will only find out when you miss a shift you didn't know you were scheduled for, or when you try to clock in and you can't.

Pros

Commission sales can be very profitable at times, some of the management is extremely competant and helpful, selling for sears is very easy, most times you're just ringing up things that customers want.

Cons

There are some bad eggs in the manager field, you are constantly being watched by big brother and if you don't sell exactly how they want (they record you on a camera) they will come back to you and repramand you, they don't often acknowlege achievements, they usually overstaff the sales floor and a lot of the salespeople are sharks...

Pros

Steady job, great starting position for someone who is in high school or just coming out. You will learn a lot about whatever field you are in.

Cons

Pressure from making commission from bosses. You also have the competition from other employees from that commission as well. There is a lot of product knowledge to acquire. There is a dress code.
