Pros
The people you work with are great, but the people you work for are not. Games are fun and it’s a thrilling environment to be a part of. I recommend for college students to work for the Sharks versus individuals looking to start a career in sports. They do not hire from within and seldom support career growth. I will say you can acquire certain connections if you work there long enough and are well liked.
Cons
Zero support from upper management and horrible pay which is why it’s a fine short-term place to work for college students. No opportunities for growth within the organization, but again, if you know the right people, they can possibly connect you with other local sport clubs. Stay away from sales. It’s a horrible job to have, not as glamorous as it seems, and they’ll fire you after one season. Working in sales will not give you the experience or expertise you need to have a decent job in the sports industry. You are a number to them. They do not actually care about you. Only your coworkers and direct supervisors truly care about you and treat you kindly.
