Pros

The company truly does have respect for work/life balance. The reputation in that regard is completely justified. There is also the stability of working for a private company, where the executives are making decisions for the long run, not managing to the expectations of Wall Street. There is a top-down commitment to fair treatment, which gives me confidence it's not going away. And the Cary campus has really great onsite amenities including free onsite health care, a gym and pool, hair salon, day care, etc.

Cons

People never leave so it can be hard to move up. Because so many people have been here so long, it can be difficult at times for new people. The company is receptive to new ideas, but there's always a history that you might not know about as a new employee.

Pros

Great opportunities to learn and grow technically and personally, great people to work with, outstanding benefits. Assigned work is interesting but the chance to explore and add value through research, technical efforts and other independent activities is supported and encouraged. Working with other very bright people is stimulating and fun, as well as challenging and mentally healthy. Work life balance is recognized as important to making people able to be creative and productive and we have fun at work and away from work. Benefits are at the top of the industry.

Cons

R&D needs to find ways to deliver new releases quicker to respond to platform changes. Products are outstanding and lead the market but sometimes cause heartburn for customers who are on the latest versions of platforms.
