Pros

You get to wear the latest clothes, get hefty discount on the uniform and 30% on the full price items. Flexibility in shifts and departments within the store (Sales and Service, Products and Operations). Target oriented.

Cons

Very ordinary wage structure (Sales Advisers get the basic pay rate). Not a great ladder structure within the company. It takes forever for you to reach the upper level. The work is appreciated verbally only, no attractive incentives at all. No name badges for the advisers like Zara or Next and even the ID cards for the people working in the stores. If you are a Sales Adviser working full time in the store, you would be lucky to make a grand at the end of the month.

Pros

It gave me experience in the retail environment and a chance to learn how to interact with them (First job)

Cons

No matter when a manager tells you to "f off" you're still in the wrong for answering back. Then pulled into the store managers office and made to feel like the problem because another manager that has slept with the first manager is sticking up for him. No line between business and personal relationships. Couldn't get by a day without 1 of 11 managers crying or a staff member crying. Joke!

Pros

During my time at RI i met some lovely people. Thats about the only good part about working there.

Cons

where to start?! *the rate of pay. minimum wage and working 40 hours weeks. I couldn't afford to eat some months as i had rent to pay on my flat and the expenses of traveling to work and other bills. I was only earning around £850 a month. My rent alone was £500 I was then pulled up because i wasn't buying enough RI clothing. I couldn't afford to even with the discount. Eating was more important to me. *NO SICK PAY! i had fully blown flu for 2 weeks and have never been so unwell in my entire life but couldn't take time off work due to the company refusing to pay sick pay. i would not have been able to pay rent. I later learned that it is at the managers discretion. She saw how unwell i was, i could hardly even open my eyes because the light was causing me so much pain...yet my manager never once even acknowledged how sick i was. I still haven't recovered fully from those 2 weeks of working non stop, processing deliveries, heavy lifting while trying to cope with the flu. *the lack of opportunities in working your way up through the company. If your face doesn't fit...your out of luck. *and so much more! I have worked in retail for a long time....RI was by far the worst place i have ever worked.
