Pros

You might meet some cool people along the way.

Cons

They put on this inclusive, progressive facade when really they just care about a quick cash grab and making sure baristas shut up while they work them to the bone. They claim a lot of "Phamily" values but they don't actually care for the people who work for the,

Pros

Scheduling flexibility. My store is nice.

Cons

They are very corporate but still manage to be completely unhelpful and unprofessional if you reach out to corporate for any reason. This doesn't surprise me, as I was hired for a new store opening and had the "privilege" of meeting many people from corporate when we opened. These people are complete nightmares to deal with. The training is a sham. I still, months after my hiring, feel like I need more training. Philz is anti fair trade because "it's an expensive business model." But not only are they anti fair trade, but they also lack any transparency in their sourcing practices. Also, their beans taste terrible. I think people only like Philz because the baristas dump a bunch of heavy cream and sugar into the cup, which could make anything taste good. The food waste I see every day is appalling. Dozens of loaves of bread, dozens of bagels, unopened gallons of milk, fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc. It is so easy to give to the needy, and they just choose not to. They don't recycle meaning that countless plastic containers go into the garbage daily. During training, I witnessed some of the team leaders dumping about 20 gallons of milk down the drain because they were expiring later that week. Not only was perfectly good milk that could have gone to families in the neighborhood being wasted, but there were about 40 plastic containers that went into the landfill. I really hate this company and everything they represent.
