Pros

Good if you're a people person and get along well with all kinds of people. This is a good job if you don't really care about putting out the best product or doing your best. Good position for someone who's looking to just show up and collect a paycheck.

Cons

Applied, interviewed, and was hired for a leadership position. After I'd quit my other job I was told I'm not a good fit for that position and that I'd be working in an entry-level position. Company is more focused on making sure each team member feels "part of the family" rather than making sure everyone is following rules and guidelines. I've seen coworkers blatantly ignore health guidelines, making myself and my friends sick (I no longer consume the products we make). Nothing is really done when reports are made to the manager You basically have to demand for your legally required breaks. Management will make you clock out a few minutes early so that they don't have to give you a meal break. You have no power to enforce company rules with the customers. E.g. Dogs are not allowed inside, however management will not back you up when you try to make an owner take their pets out of the store.

Fun Job!

Pros

The best part of any job is being able to call your co-workers PHAMILY. Be able to work at multiple locations and events. Being able to receive coverage from people from other stores. Free coffee & tea on the job. Met a lot amazing people: people in the company as well as locals in the area. Training system -not perfect- but definitely spoiled when compared to other shops. As a student, scheduling was pretty flexible.

Cons

There are times when morale is low. Ordering system definitely needs to be streamlined. Leaves baristas vulnerable to awkward situations with customers. Lack of perks.

Shift Leader

Pros

Training team is absolutely awesome. They really took the time to teach us about Philz culture and the technique. They also hire, for the most part, great people and preach great principles and ideals of open feedback. Shifts are great when they're busy and everyone is working together as a team. Leadership is key. It can make or break the store. Our first store leader is amazing and doing amazing things at the store she is at.

Cons

There is just a total lack of consistency in what they practice. They preach about feedback and caring about the people they hire but then when you hire bad leadership, your store and the leadership team start to tank. Morale was so low amongst the team when I separated from Philz. I had numerous reports of disrespect and misconduct from a leader and a barista from multiple team members and myself, which I constantly kept communicating to my upper leadership team. There never was an attempt to reach any type of solutions when team members presented a problem and everything was so secretive that the principle that Philz has no hierarchy just got shot out the window. Things got so mishandled or not handled at all that I started to hate working there. Scheduling was also ridiculous, at one point while having to administer breaks, I only had 2 people on the shift and was still expected to have the entire store cleaned, restocked and ready for the PM shift (which began in one hour). I also rarely was able to take lunch breaks because of how short staffed we were in order to make sure my team were able to take their breaks. There is no expression of gratitude towards the work that team members put in to decorate, clean and manage the store and our customers. When we have store meetings we talk about things that do not matter and can be sent over an email. There is just something missing from the leadership team at Philz.
