Pros

Great benifits. You have as much time off as you need to get things in your personal life straight if need be. You are your own boss, if you don't work you don't get paid. Friendly staff at the office that are usually willing to help you out at anytime.

Cons

Commision only. It took 2 months for me to get my first paycheck from signing my contract. You have to pay for everything from computer usuage, internet, phone service and equipment, cubicle, IT staff, Mail staff..... It seems every month there is a new monthly charge. Managment doesn't disclose all this information when hiring you. You are not given any leads, if you are new to an area and don't have a lot of friends, family or college buddies near by then think twice about joining. Not having a large natural market hurts you and you will only get a few internet leads that never work out, plus you will get charged for most of those leads.

Pros

The GM and DM I worked with were excellent and knowledgeable. Compensation is good(relative for the insurance industry), its feast or famine

Cons

Dont treat agents fairly..i.e. not paying bonuses when we hit quotas Do thing without telling agents, such as messing with your taxes then you get a big surprize once it comes to tax season. The business revolves around aquiring business from you family and friends, cold calling, or knocking on doors.

Pros

Good Benefits and lots of vacation time and sick days given. Best in the industry

Cons

No recognition from management for exceptional work. Nearly impossible to get a raise/promotion. Old boy Network. Poor Salary and Raise/Bonus compensation. I am concerned about the future of the NYL because there is not enough mentoring of technical people. Everyone shares the blame on this one. Human resourses are invisible and don't interact with their employees. The review process is inferior at best.
