Pros

This is a huge organisation so there are endless possibilities and lots of good support provided by experienced colleagues. There is training every term for teachers and a guide to almost everything there is to being a teacher in First Campus. Most colleagues I have met are extremely forthcoming with providing help but this probably differs from centre to centre. Extremely good benefits (healthcare, flexible benefits) They also have random events for staff to enjoy themselves. One year they paid for everyone's entrance to Universal Studios and this year, all staff are entitled to a night's stay in Batam and a 30 min fish spa and shoulder massage!

Cons

Because this is a big organisation, I've noticed that people who are unable to perform are "supported" by the company aka they are hard to get rid of. (You could think of it as a pro if you want to be lazy) So, for me, these people who are unable to perform their roles and responsibilities become a burden to others, and they seem to be burden that is unable to be ridden of easily. These "lazy" people take a toll on others who perform well.

Pros

14 days annual leave 14 days sick leave. Average pay enough to make you stay alive. Brainwashing

Cons

Constant lack of manpower. Teacher child ratio, class is too big. Special needs children with no extra help given. Paper work ( wap, lesson preparation plan, evaluations, inquiry project lesson plan, inquiry project documentation, field trip documentation, and now HBL) Neverending workload Work OT almost everyday but they will not pay OT if you use it for finishing paper work. They only pay OT as per shift ( meaning taking care of kids) Weekly upload of photos Portfolios per child per semester. Taking care of parent's demands and admin work. Handling things that are not even in a teacher's jobscope. Working here is like working as a domestic helper (that knows how to teach) in a preschool centre.

Pros

- Medical benefits - Performance bonus

Cons

Management keeps setting very high standards and implements new programmes for children and parents but not providing sufficient resources for teachers to use. While they have increased trainings for teachers, most of the new ones have to be done during our PERSONAL/ out of office hours (they say do it at your own time and pace). Have started implementing online programmes and a lot of video editing to be done by teachers but gives us a very limited and difficult to use video editing software. Took away MS office from our company laptops which made it more difficult to complete the never-ending paperwork. Initiates mindfulness and well-being programmes for teachers but it always revolves around 'identifying your stressors' (very repetitive over the years) and never actually doing anything about it- to lessen the workload. Yoga, etc. are scheduled during the children's nap time (which teachers should be using to finish off paperwork and have their lunch break) or after work hours.
