Overworked, Underpaid, and Undervalued – But the People Are Great

Pros

✅ Autonomy in Your Work – No micromanagement when it comes to structuring your day. You get your work done how you see fit, which is one of the few perks. ✅ Passionate and Talented Colleagues – The people I work with are incredibly driven, and I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with some of the best in the industry. They make the job bearable, even when everything else is frustrating.

Cons

Significant Pay Disparities – If you're a female minority, expect to earn substantially less than market value, even with an advanced degree. Constant Layoffs, No Growth – Layoff rounds continue, and those left behind are expected to pick up the slack without promotions, pay raises, or even acknowledgment. More work, same title, same pay. No Work-Life Balance – The work never stops. After-hours? Yep. Weekends? Almost every single one. There's no clear separation between work and personal time, and leadership doesn't seem to care. Overworked and Undervalued – The numbers show that my team is performing at a high level, but leadership overlooks and under-appreciates the results. The work speaks for itself, yet recognition and reward are non-existent.

Pretty good, would recommend, just wasn't for me

Pros

Most people in senior leadership roles are really good people. Most of the people I worked alongside of were also really good people. Being able to travel to a handful of events throughout the year was nice as well. Diversity and inclusion is a serious area of focus and I appreciated that.

Cons

Since the merger of ISC and NASCAR, and the subsequent restructure, there isn't a great deal of vertical mobility, especially for those still at the track level, or "regions" as they call it now. I don't think the business model is really good for people with families, or trying to grow a family. The season goes from February to November with events every weekend during that time, so you're always on and there is very little down time. That's the fault of no one, though. Just the model of the sport. There are a couple longtime employees at VP level positions that have created toxic work environments. Leadership and HR are aware of them, but they remain in their roles.

Pros

Nice location and someone flexible schedules. Good foot in the door for production or racing industry. Embraces technology.

Cons

Old fashioned in structure and growth outlook, sees everything fiscally and not creatively which is not good for an entertainment company. HR runs the show and not department managers which is unfortunate.
