Pros

The brand and jewelry are fantastic. Most people in the company are great to work with (Excludes VPs and above).

Cons

The finance leadership has done an exceptional job nurturing the most toxic work environment possible. Mid-level managers are seemingly hired based on their ability to deflect responsibility onto their staff rather than their technical competencies while existing employees are expected to work 60+ hours for below market compensation. Those who dare propose ways to improve work life balance for the team are pushed out of decision making processes and even "encouraged to look elsewhere". Rest assured that you will have ample opportunity to discover and create new processes. Finance leadership has a habit of pushing out the longest and most knowledgeable employees without a transition plan, leaving the rest of the teams scrambling to pick up the pieces. Think you'll at least be doing interesting and value-add work? Think again. The systems and infrastructure are constantly in a chaotic state, with zero foundation to speak of. 80% of the team is doing manual work which could have been avoided if the finance leadership cared to implement the right systems or enable the success of their team. Take a look at the 90% turnover from the finance teams in the past 1-2 years to visualize just how toxic, condescending, and disrespectful finance leadership is. Everything is your fault, the leaders never take accountability and you are thrown under the bus the first chance they get. Take a look at the the other negative reviews of the company and how many of them are from Finance. Mejuri has spent years building such a good reputation and culture; not sure why the finance team chooses to operate in direct opposition to it. And to wrap it all up, team is constantly working 60-80 hour weeks, never gets promoted or rewarded other than a public "thank you" to pay lip service, and everyone is expendable unless you suck up to management.

Pros

It was cool to work at a place that has such a great reputation. People were very welcoming at first

Cons

Horrible structure and no accountability. Management was very green and also there were problematic systematic racism politics at play. No diversity in management and also they were against sizing and racial diversity in creatives.

Pros

looks good on a resume, will give you experience in a fast paced start up

Cons

This company is a train wreck on the inside. Considering how many years they've been in business, they seem to have no handle on operations or HR. They change policies and systems at a whim and try to roll them out to retail, without the people initiating the roll out even understanding the process themselves. Little to no guidance or training for retail leaders is provide after initial on boarding, and communication from HQ is one sided. No formal structure for check ins, performance reviews, raises; was there 8 months before I received a job description for my own role. No room to ask questions, gain clarification, provide feedback, or have time with your manager outside of a slack message. Company runs entirely on Slack, which is used inefficiently. Messages are taken out of context to promote competition and disease among employees. Definitely not the feminist culture it portrays. Everyone at an HQ level is catty, rude and dismissive despite the retail teams making the company significant amounts of money.

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your feedback. As you know, we pride ourselves on transparency both internally and with our community. Feedback allows us to continue to grow and ensure we maintain the high levels of engagement that we have with our employees. Your advice to management is spot on! As a high growth business, we often outgrow our infrastructure. As our business grows, our teams are focused on scaling their functions by laying the supporting infrastructure coupled with the far-reaching goals to achieve greatness year after year. Retail is an amazing investment that we began just under 2 years ago. Part of growing that line of business comes with creating things for the first time. Sometimes that means that things aren’t in place yet which you may have expected due to experience in larger organizations. I am sorry that this was a poor experience for you. High growth businesses that are building and scaling are not the environment for everyone. As the VP of People Operations (HR) I can say that we absolutely DO have a handle on our people strategy. We have a dedicated team of HR professionals who support our employees in Retail, in Corporate, and in our Warehouse day in and day out. We have been building programs from Onboarding to recognition, performance reviews to Learning & Development programs, diversity, and inclusion to career growth. As a 5-year-old business who has seen such incredible growth, we have done an outstanding job laying the foundation to enable our people to be the best they can be both at Mejuri and in their personal lives. Are we done? NO WAY! Will we ever be done? NOPE! As Mejuri continues on its growth trajectory and expands globally we will ALWAYS be building, pivoting, and building again. We will always be listening to our employees and to our community to ensure we build this business together. If you ever want to speak directly about your experience as an employee please feel free to reach out to me directly. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
