Pros

You save money because there's always a reason to be confined on board while in port, making it impossible to spend the little you earn.

Cons

Working aboard an MSC ship was one of the worst experiences of my career. The working hours are utterly inhumane, with the expectation of being available 24/7, with no regard for personal time or rest. And all this for a salary that is equivalent to a typical 9-to-5 job on land, which is simply outrageous given the level of commitment required. The work environment is stifling, with a rigid, militaristic hierarchy that leaves no room for flexibility or open communication. You are treated more like a cog in a machine than a valued employee. As for the food, it is frankly abysmal, far below the standard one might expect from a company of this scale. The shared cabins represent the peak of the deplorable conditions. Unlike other companies, there is no cleaning service provided for the crew cabins. Instead, it's left to the occupants to maintain, which inevitably leads to an unacceptable level of filth and deterioration, making the already challenging living conditions even worse. In summary, if you are looking for an environment of total exploitation, with little to no regard for your physical or mental well-being, MSC is the place for you.
