Excellent Benefits Very cool culture Adjacent to the cutting edge of research I love working at a University!

Cons

Staff are often forgotten after Faculty and Students, even though we make up a significant portion of the population. Degree Inflation is rampant. You really don't need a masters degree to be coordinator level, but there is often that perception.

They are willing to hire anyone regardless of their background.

Cons

Minorities = No employment growth or opportunities. Minorities are mostly placed in entry level roles or administrative roles. Senior managers are not equipped or know how to set their employees for a career growth. Not supportive for employees who are pursuing a higher degree.

Pros

Occasionally good for networking and this is a mostly volunteer organization where it is possible to meet people with diverse interests and backgrounds..

Cons

This is a highly political organization and there remain very few programs of value compared to a few years ago. Lots of lip service to volunteers has caused many to terminate the relationship. MIT is such a great institution, but the MIT Enterprise Forum does a disservice to the broader MIT community due to poor leadership. There used to be 30-40 interesting programs annually but now there are only a few programs that are good.
