Hopeless and unoptimistic place to work at

Pros

Work from home is allowed. Good healthcare/FMLA. Good PTO system

Cons

No raises in several years or more. No cost of living wages in several years or more. (Which means due to inflation I make way less than I did five years ago, and I feel it) No Christmas bonus in several years. Duties beyond original job description keep getting added with no pay increase to reflect that. No way to move up in my department, Lumen is all about downsizing to maximize profit. Management expects your work knowledge to be the breadth of an ocean with the depth of a puddle.

Pros

If you can be a favorite to higher level mangers, you're good with little or no work and eligible for an unlimited time off each year! One way to be popular is writing pages of lengthy meaningless weekly status reports.

Cons

If you question about purpose, policy, or direction for your task or projects, you may be asking for trouble and create enemies. As a result, you would be drowned with meaningless tasks and pulled to multiple directions. They would tell you that you have unlimited leave for you and family emergencies, but that may not be true for everyone! No allocated PTO! Management rarely approves trainings other than online courses to cover CPEs or career advancements. Lack of empathy to staff during any personal or family crisis. Weak HR division. Experienced almost zero HR involvement during my unfair employment termination by the angry supervisor.

Pros

Qwest was fantastic. They finally changed the bad CenturyLink name. If you like the diversity drumbeat, this place is for you.

Cons

At CTL merger, there were hundreds of reclassifications in job titles which were only demotions. No merit or cost of living raise in 5+ years. 1% raise in the past decade. They figure... not if one is worthy of a raise, rather the criteria is, at what point will the person quit to find better pay elsewhere. If person is over 55, HR knows statistically, they flat will never resign. So, all those worker-bee persons over 55 never see a raise, ever again while at Lumen.
