Lumen Is Terrible to work for

Pros

Flex time off is about the only Pro working at Lumen

Cons

The company UHC insurance is horrible! For long term care you are forced to use mail order service for Rx. This adds more head ache to getting Rx's filled. Because you have to use mail order service to get a script filled at your local pharmacy you have to spend at least an hour on the phone with Mail Order service to "Request" an override. If it gets approved you then can go to Pharmacy. Anyone who has long term care needs will have to fight with constant wrong info and poor customer service. Lumen does everything possible to make providing insurance as cheap as possible to the company and as panful as possible to the employee. All H.R. issues are handled by external providers like Bizs olver. Was told upon hire that I would be able to cover my disabled child under my Insurance. I have tried for over a year to no success. Nothing but games and excuses from Lumen , UHC and 3 party as to why they dont have the correct paperwork. I have submitted multiple times and spent countless hours speaking to Lumen representatives just to get the run around.

Pros

Flexible schedule and good work life balance

Cons

It feels like a failing company anymore. The name change to Lumen seems like a last ditch effort to save the company but the new name is barely recognized by anyone and wasn't communicated to the public and has confused most customers more than anything. Most customers think Lumen either bought CenturyLink or that Lumen is a contractor for CenturyLink. Vehicles and buildings are still not rebranded causing even more confusion. Management will not listen to their employees suggestions for improvement and those suggestions that make their way to upper management are just discarded or edited to hide the the real issues and to protect director level employees, which just leads to the company throwing more money at issues instead of making meaningful changes to policies and practices. Every process within the company is now just extremely long and complicated. In an effort to improve processes, new systems and processes are rolled out before they are ready, they ultimately fail, which cripples productivity. Even when they function as designed the systems and processes are generally not an improvement for anyone except management and adds time and complexity to lower level employees who are already understaffed and overworked. Which ends up with a poor customer experience.

Used to be amazing

Pros

None now that it’s Lumen. When it was US West and Qwest there was proper leadership and a path to $150k a year.

Cons

Lack of accountability from Directors.
