Pros

costumer service (meeting diverse nice people) finding unique donations (memorabilia, jewelry, etc. you learn we things)

Cons

no chance of advancement horrible pay (and constant paycheck money errors and/or delays) work conditions (getting dirty, wet, sun burned, cut, etc.) weather conditions in open donation site (working regardless of weather) no schedule flexibility integrity (constant watch of donations handling) raise freezes (very common) costumer service (direct conflict with angry/rude/vulgar costumers if donations turned down) finding donations you want to keep for yourself (management is always suspicious of this)

Pros

Goodwill provides an excellent platform to grow experience within your position. Goodwill expresses values and mission extensively and encourages alignment of employees with vision.

Cons

There are a lot of politics in non-profit and can be difficult to navigate at times considering ones level of position strength. In addition, silo working styles are very evident.
