The pay is so low! There are people that have been there for 5+ years, starting out at minimum wage and earning yearly raises which never exceed a quarter- who are now making just as much as new hires because of new minimum wage increases. The job is also very physical for the types of people they seem to hire, older women or disabled people, and once again, the pay is very low. Management is poor. And THE WASTE is just HORRIBLE! If people knew how much stuff is thrown away, they would probably give their items directly to the people who need them! Perfectly good household items, furniture, and clothing is thrown into trash compactors just to save time, instead of dealing with it in a responsible way, which again I believe is POOR MANAGEMENT. For such a "giving" corporation, they sure do deny needy families a lot of help by trashing so many donations for a lack of better outlets.
