Pros

You just have to have decent work ethics and you are in. They will train you if you never worked retail before and in different departments. Perfect for a begginer. Not strict. You can dip in and out the break room to get a snack or drink or check your phone. If you like thrifting you can get %50 off at any goodwill. Customers are super friendly and love that you are there. It is less demanding than regular retail. Less managers breathing down your neck. More forgiving and less likely to get fired. It feels like a small business and everything you do matters. You feel valued and important. If you are okay at what you do, you dont have to worry about losing the job at all. Lots of job security and sometimes opportunitues to move up. Good chance of getting hired fast if there is an opening.

Cons

They are cheap. The air conditioner would break and they never fix it. A key equipment is missing and they never replace it. They don't buy new equipment. After a while it feels like upper management does not care about providing what is needed. Nobody wants to work there which is great for job security but bad if you want to take a day off or negotiate your schedule. So many people kept quitting or finding another job. Also what if the next person they hire is a psychopath? Or you dont like them? Dealing with different co-workers can be risky. Sometimes they will contact you because someone called out. That can get frustrating. During the winter if you work part time your hours may get cut a lot. However when the weather is good you can ask for more hours if you work part time but full time they will say no. The stereotype is true. Most customers are poor, immigrant and elderly with a few young people sprinkled in. It can feel like you are working in an elderly center after a while. The old people are at least nice and some are funny.

Cons

Restricted time and labour resources Asked to do a lot by those somewhat unfamiliar with the role Communication and transparency could be improved, better understanding what each department is doing and how they contribute to mission. Too reactive/doing a lot of things poor -okay versus proactively doing less things but well - excellence Benefits coverage isn't great, dental, therapy, optician especially Compensation is difficult to understand
