Employees are overworked and unhappy

Pros

Compensation is generally competitive, Benefits above average. Facilities are well kept at corporate office.

Cons

Company is making record breaking profits yet all employees are overworked as corporate eliminates headcount and shifts the work onto the remaining employees. They know about problems and refuse to fix them (no work/life balance, company's future is shaky in the face of new technology, management and practices are bloated and antiquated). All employees are cogs. HR is a revolving door. IT is extremely overworked and have to deal with outdated technology. Diversity at the top of the org chart is non existent. Annual review process is too complicated and time consuming.

Old Guard and Sloppy Management

Pros

Work Life Balance is good in the senior levels

Cons

At the Executive level, Old Guard stands guard to protect old systems and broken processes. Very few new ideas are implemented despite constant chatter. Nasty politics mean new people are only tolerated if they don't rock the boat. Leadership pays lip service to change management yet retain the very people in the same roles for over 10 years, except in Sales & Marketing!

Old guard company - hostile to new hires

Pros

Profitable company as it is pretty much a monopoly in the lens manufacturing industry. Good roles and growth in Marketing Department (only).

Cons

IT, Finance, Accounting and Operations teams are filled with good ol' boys at the Senior and Middle Management levels. It is hard for newcomers to grow and become a successful part of the company as the management is suspicious of anyone outside their club.
