Regional and district management had no realistic vision of the company or the morale of the store. A painted picture was presented instead of the realities of poor morale. This is a company that actively undermined the workers into going above and beyond with no realistic opportunities and empty promises about promotional advancement. Advancement if any was on a needed or "desperate" basis to those who could move with a substitution in mind. However many times if there was a spot available it was - "If it ain't broke why fix it" attitude. Gossip was like wildfire and nothing could ever stay a secret because store management would tell everyone despite saying it was a secret. Even if you heard it and was told to keep quiet, you would hear it from someone else who heard. Conversations were sometimes inappropriate and lewd with management even suggesting that they break up with a partner just to keep them working.
