Pros

Really enjoyed my close-knit team, interactions with most volunteers and time at AMTA. The collegiality is the heart of what from my perspective makes AMTA a relatively unique environment in which to work. The organization was as welcoming to me from the day I started to the day I let them know I was relocating.

Cons

I was part of a small team so career growth was naturally limited.

Pros

-The benefits are good and the pay is decent for a nonprofit - I enjoyed my co-workers

Cons

As other reviewers have said, there is a sore lack of internal communication from upper management. This was especially disappointing during the COVID-19 transition. Department communication is badly siloed and certain departments are favored over others Bureaucracy and micromanagement drags down workflow

As mentioned in another reply - we agree that during COVID-19 communication from upper management to all employees is something we needed to improve upon, hind sight is always 20/20. However, siloed departments is certainly not the case. We immediately instituted daily calls with all department heads to go over the challenges in each department as they arose. These have been well received and will continue long after the pandemic. It is widely known throughout the organization that one department cannot do its work properly if collaboration does not happen across many departments within AMTA. If the above was true our average employee tenure at AMTA would not be pushing 9 years with a 5 year streak of less than 8% turnover. In the last 7 years AMTA has grown from 55,000 members to over 90,000 and it has been a whole team effort. One that we are proud of as you can only attain that type of growth and success in a 75+ year old organization when the individuals truly operate as one team.
