I applied online. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY)
Interview
It was a first round phone interview and it was a very laid back and easy process. I interviewed with someone that was not from HR and that was actually part of the financial planning team and it was a great experience. He was a young guy, a year out of college and a nice guy. The questions were all FIT and it was mainly used as a way to get to know me better.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at New York Life (Boston, MA) in Nov 2016
Interview
Interviewed with one of the principals of the agency. The gentleman I met with was very professional and made me feel comfortable. He asked several questions about my work history and what I wanted in the future. He also told me about himself and his family. There was no reason to be nervous because he was so relaxed.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at New York Life (El Paso, TX) in Sep 2016
Interview
They want to make sure you are a people person and extroverted. They prefer sales experience of any kind however your social network will dominate the hiring decision as well as passing the state exam and federal background check. They train you with materials that cost about $100 but they are worth it. (I passed the state exam the first time, which only has a pass rate of about 50% taking it the first time.)
