Tears and fears

Pros

Used to be well-paid but I don’t think that is true anymore.

Cons

Every employee with more than one year tenure in Customer Service left within six months of new Customer Service Manager starting in Madison, WI. Several current CS reps are seen crying at their desks regularly. 60-70 hour work weeks are expected with no end in sight for salaried employees. In 2016, other departments are low on work to do and hours are being cut. Layoffs occur every two to three years, for all departments. Training is frequently cancelled and rarely offered - even product training. Safety oversight is diminishing. I have heard that if you report a safety issue, it goes against both reported and reporting employee. New addition was built with inadequate footing/base material so the machines were not moved in due to an unleveled base.

VP Political Game

Pros

Decent benefits with 401k that’s about all. If you are a buddy of a VP there are many opportunities to advance even if you don’t know what you are doing.

Cons

This is a VP heavy company. The VP's & upper management lead you to believe they want what is best for Weir but the reality is they only are only out for personal gain. No amount of back stabbing, trash talking, or character deformation is off limits here. There is no respect of people’s skills, accomplishments, and abilities to do the jobs they were hired to do. Each group works in a silo all by themselves and hides what they are doing from the rest of the company, the results are many silos working against each other and no one is able to accomplish anything at all. It’s a shame that weir as a whole wants to embrace technology but all attempts to upgrade systems and technology become a single person trying to gain glory or someone afraid to make a decision because they are a yes man and have no idea what they are doing. If that was not enough, they allow this engineering and manufacturing company to be run by HR, it’s a joke.
