Pros

It’s interesting to work at a place that is trying to transform an industry.

Cons

Departments are heavily siloed with not much communication. This creates a lot of confusion and unnecessary work. There are very few women in executive leadership roles and that doesn’t seem like it will change anytime soon. The focus on individual growth makes it hard for real collaboration. Everyone is focused on how they will look in their next review rather than actual results. Not a very nurturing environment. Company culture is one of paranoia and backstabbing which is ironic as they pride themselves for “transparency”.

Thank you for your input. Wayfair strives for a culture that is dynamic, inclusive and innovative. We bias towards action and collaboration, though acknowledge that we will occasionally make mistakes as we take big risks, hire rapidly and continually evolve how we work together as we grow and increase our footprint. Increasing our female leadership remains a key priority, and we continue to invest in initiatives across our industry and in our local communities to bring female leadership together in mutually impactful ways. Additionally we do seek ways to drive collaboration across functions. Our review process rewards those who are able to communicate well with others and develop effective approaches to teamwork which are core competencies. We’re disheartened to hear that you did not experience this at Wayfair and are grateful for your feedback.

Pros

great people in the team

Cons

very old technologies, standards used if you come up with an idea they tell you that you need to convince 1200 developers which is insane. is very difficult to change something regarding software, they don't allow it, except if you struggle a lot with it. to much bureaucracy no composer, no design patterns, no SOLID principles :(

Pros

- Offers opportunities to try new things + gain new skills - Central location in Back Bay for easy commuting - Colorful office filled with the product you help sell - Free snacks and alcohol - Employee discount (if you're dumb enough to want to shop WF)

Cons

- Embarrassingly low pay - A cult-like culture that wants you to equate selling furniture with saving the world - Wildly disparate treatment and room for growth depending on your department and manager - A laughably vague laundry list of "competencies" you're expected to meet - Insanely high turnover (so you're constantly training new people) - A maze-like office of open desks where conference rooms are never available and everyone is 5 minutes late to meetings because they got lost or had to travel multiple floors (people camp out in the telephone booths just to get a little privacy) - Out of touch management who thinks the complaints and critiques are the exception, not the norm (false); attempts at discussing them go nowhere - Inappropriate behavior from senior staff goes unchecked
