Toxic. Avoid.

Pros

Almost none. The basic VHI healthcare is all right but when it doesn't cover any of the psychiatric care you will need after working here for a few months. Stay away if you know what's good for you

Cons

Poor management. No way to progress if they don't like your face. Blame and shame culture, extremely toxic. Micromanaged every second of the day. Regularly disrepected by management while achieving targets. Unrealistic expectations for absolutely every aspect of your job. If you voice your opinion even offering constructive criticism and suggestions on how to improve then you are blacklisted. Managers that used to go out of their way to say hello and be friendly will literally start to ignore you - in the lift when it's just the 2 of you (happened so many times) - because you will be branded a trouble maker.

Pros

Literally nothing, this place is the bane of my existence. I actually had to see a therapist from working here because I hated my life so much. If you have any self-respect and do not want your confidence and happiness ripped out of your soul, do not accept a job here.

Cons

Wayfair treats its employees like the scum of the earth and makes it nearly impossible to move up the ranks if you haven't been there since 2010. Terrible management - the worst management that possibly ever existed, essentially a bunch of 25-35 year olds high on a power trip. You're selling furniture online, not performing open-heart surgery - drop your ego. "Snacks" -- lol there is a wall of snacks in every kitchen and when it gets refilled employees literally fill up their backpacks with bags of chips to bring home. Its pathetic but you can't even blame them because they are practically living in poverty with the low pay they are receiving.

Petty employees, no transparency, and really low salaries

Pros

Open office, young employees, fun work outings and quarterly parties, kegs in the kitchen, lenient policy on working from home, good benefits

Cons

When you first get to Wayfair they try to make you drink the koolaid with the flashy office and group outings and winter party in the Seaport, and they think it makes up for the fact that everyone is paid SIGNIFICANTLY below the industry average. On top of that, they have rules that you can't get promoted or a pay raise if you haven't been there for 12 months or more, and you can't get more than one promotion or pay raise per year, AND you only get these big reviews every 6 months, so there are people who only just get promoted after working in their job for 2 or 3 years with no pay raises or incentives to stay. The turnover rate is really high and they even tell you that 75% of the company has been there for 1 year or less. They expanded too quickly and can't keep up with managing that many people, and Niraj and Steve like to act like they are super transparent, but they don't tell you anything, even your managers will be hush hush about everything, and you always feel like you're in the dark. They also feel like everyone is replaceable so they aren't going to do anything to stop you from leaving.
