Pros

Village Green HAD a great training program and got me on the right track to a successful future in real estate. I have them to partially thank for that. It is a large and tenured company so you know that the company has a strong backbone being almost 100 years in the running. They always hire young driven employees to work with them with which created a fun environment of peers to connect with.

Cons

The training program has noticeably fallen behind in the recent years. Getting a raise is like asking someone for an amputation. Feeling appreciated is seldom within the upper management. Very cliquey! You can accelerate quickly BUT you plateau just as fast. I had to go to another company to move up as they only chose favorites (brownnosers) to promote. If you are good at your job they would rather keep you there instead of promoting you. They are too worried about filling the position you are good at instead of empowering you to a higher and more challenging role. The CEO is sexist and racist. Just being honest... stay away from him and you will do well.

Pros

Village Green's sales department is second to none. The bevy of training classes is refreshing for an industry that lacks in real teaching. Furthermore, the trainers care deeply about the impact of the classes on a site-level. The company prides itself on promoting from within and it does ... a lot. The sales department is also excellent at evaluating talent, which makes promoting the right* people a breeze. The leaders of the sales department pay a great deal of attention to detail and are always coming up with new ways to be leaders in the industry. Furthermore, I disagree with the reviews suggesting VG overworks its employees. It's hardly a non-stop job, but if responding to emails away from work is considered "being overworked" you probably haven't been out of college very long. Lastly, the compensation is competitive to say the least. Especially the commission structure, which rewards those who capture high rents and rentals per month.

Cons

As much as I love the sales department; the operations department has some room for growth. During my tenure I have encountered multiple incompetent property managers, but I do believe this is an industry-wide issue and not so much a VG issue. Even still, the lack of solid* property managers can be frustrating at times.

Great to Work For

Pros

Village Green is a really great company to work for. They do have high expectations, but no one ever said it would be easy. As long as you do what is expected of you, you will be rewarded. There are chances to be rewarded every week depending on your position, and quarterly at a minimum. The pay can be average at different stages of your career but I would suggest making every attempt to negotiate. Other management companies may pay more up front but don't have as good of benefits, quarterly bonuses, or the company culture. Village Green really does believe in promoting from within and it shows in their continuous learning programs. VG is a growing company so there is always room to move up in the company or to a new location as long as you are getting the job done.

Cons

Stressful at times but only temporary
