Pros
This is an excellent entry-point into commercial aviation. The job is easy to get, the ability to progress upward is easy (nobody is in the way), and having flight benefits is an excellent perk. The job also comes with handy perks like discounts on a whole directory worth of products/services (tons are of course travel related - hotels, car rental, etc.) I've met tons of good people and love the opportunity to be in such an exciting environment.
Cons
The pay is not even remotely commensurate with job responsibility at any level or in any position. The turnover rate is profoundly high due to most entry-level employees receiving better pay in the fast food industry. Most agents are very inept even after extensive training, incapable of learning any complex or demanding task - very scary in a safety oriented environment. People are very much treated as numbers, not people. Retention is intentionally poor, with turnover reducing pay increases. Pay increase are capped at 3 over your entire career, amounting to barely a dollar over base pay - if you want a raise, get a promotion or leave.
