Very rewarding to work with my students and the pay is toward the highest of public schools in Oklahoma.

Cons

The pay is among the worse in the nation. There are many challenges students face that also make teaching here challenging. Lack of resources i.e., copy paper, dry erase markers

Pros

Kids love you, teachers love you, you are constantly learning new things, actual librarian job is really fun and rewarding, sometimes coworkers and admins are amazing

Cons

Red tape & bureaucracy inhibit basic job functions, MANY non-librarian duties are expected (IT duties, cafeteria duties, teaching specials classes, training staff on things that have nothing to do with the library, being on many committees, and much more), pay is atrocious, sometimes coworkers and admins are terrible (depends entirely on how you fit in the school and every school is very different)

I worked with great staff and was able to grow professionally.

Cons

Prior to starting as a teacher I had accepted a job at one school and was transferred to another school with very short notice.
