Pros

Growing company with opportunities for advancement. Learn about health and nutrition to better yourself and others. Yealry product knowledge expo for store managers.

Cons

Benefits. Only one week vacation. Health insurance options are limited. Merchandising, IT and Marketing departments are poorly managed. Expanding too quickly at the expense of employees and quality of product and service.

Pros

Great atmosphere for promoting health and fitness lifestyle - encouraging healthy lifestyle by educating staff on attributes of various supplements, vitamins and sports nutrition products. Clean enviroment. Ongoing training process in place with the Vitamin Shoppe University. Better than most retail stores to manage. Professional.

Cons

Typical long retail hours requiring nights and weekends. Some open to close shifts which are very hard when required to stand for long periods. Sometimes it is impossible to take breaks and because of the lean way the staff is scheduled if someone calls off then you could end up working alone. There is no office - safe and money counting is at the cash wrap which could result in a security risk both internal and externally. No cameras in stores so internal theft could be an issue especially when the range of pay for associates is so low with such high expectations. ($7- 9 hrly)

Pros

It's a job. The pay you. They sell some products that help people.

Cons

It's got all the personality of a tollway reststop. The management, district and regional managers have no understanding of the industry. They are schmucks. They have no integrity, they'll sell anything that sells, even if it could potentially hurt you. They sold a Vitamin Water knock-off that was advertised as "all natural" but the crap had Splenda, which is about as natural as a polyester suit.
