Pros

25% discount on products, Easy inventory to manage. Lots of staff hours to play around with, Sales go up once a month. Monthly bonus is fairly easy to hit, but is also not a lot of money.

Cons

Huge learning curve to be able to step into a FT role. Senior level management is almost incompetent, way out of touch with not only our main competitor, but in how to run a successful business. If constant cleaning and shipments is your idea of a fun way to "sell" then this is the job for you.

Pros

Pros? I have worked for this company going on 4yrs. Each year that goes by it just gets worse and worse. I would say the only pro may be the co-workers, other than that there isn't much that the company offers.

Cons

Cons? As I stated above I have worked for the Vitamin Shoppe for almost 4yrs and from the start I could tell this was a job that was going to decline year by year. First off the upper management as in the Regional, District, and Store managers could care less what the employees think say or do. You get no praise or thanks for accomplishments or goals that you meet. Concerns that you have get thrown straight in the garbage because they just don't care. Computer systems are horrible you constantly look like fools waiting for it to work when helping customers, the Vitamin Shoppe stresses customer service but this is by far horrible customer service when nothing works daily!! Store managers get all the money. If you aren't going to be a store manager in this company don't expect to be paid well.. Associates get paid crap, in most places only starting out at $7.50 and for the knowledge and continuing education they expect from you it is a joke. Myself as an Assistant manager our pay isn't much better. In the years I've been here I have only received $1.20 in raises putting me at a whopping $12.35 per hour starting from $11.15 per hour. Easiest way to put it, don't expect good pay from this company because it just won't happen. You have to fight to get time off with other employees including the store manager. Even the home office employees including the HR dept. are no help when you have concerns or questions, noone wants to help and when you try they act as if you are bothering them and give you attitude, have to remember they are in JERSEY which you can expect that from them. I have worked in retail before and other jobs but this is by far the worst company I have ever worked for. Long story short, I would not recommend anyone to work for them unless you like crappy management horrible pay and a I don't care attitude from the company!!

Pros

Excellent customer relations with a true opportunity to positively impact people on a day to day basis drew me at first, and has kept me going. The connections you make are worth it. The discount is decent, and the free product from vendors is awesome.

Cons

Horrible pay top to bottom, especially for the newer employees. Not much consideration given for vacation time, and very demanding requirements..adding on sales, upt, VSU constantly, etc etc. For such a fragile position and industry, and all of the required knowledge and training, the pay should be a lot higher. Employees should be treated better if you want to keep them around.
