      Weakest links come from management. Management petty and operate out of fear.

      Pros

      Benefits- good, Products-good, General employee product knowledge- good

      Cons

      Management is terrible. Make many promises to part time staff and have no intention of following through with said promises. Purposely give low scores on reviews to reduce having to give raises. Management petty and condescending. Overall very unhealthy environment. General staff morale is low due to over-management although they say they "empower employess to make decisions with customers" .

      Pros

      Great hard working co-workers who togther function as a well oiled team - supporting and watching out for each other's backs. The customers generally respect our expertise and it is a pleasure to help them solve their organizational problems.

      Cons

      Communication is leadership (company foundation principal) except when it comes to including all employees on weekly critical corporate directives that are only shared (behind closed doors) with full time employees. There are two camps full time and part time, and the respect, responsibility and authority management gives to p/t is insulting.

      Pros

      Great co-workers, both full and part-timers. Decent starting hourly wage compared to other retail sales jobs which pay minimum or just above. At the time, a great employee discount.

      Cons

      Management that was breathtakingly condescending at times. Hypocrisy in the stated values of The Container Store ("we love and trust out employees, you guys are great") versus actuality. For example, I was used to years of working places where I have the keys to the businesses and am entrusted with lots of classified materials and thousands and thousands of dollars worth of equipment. As an employee of The Container Store It was degrading to not be able to have the doors unlocked for us to leave at night without being fully searched. Also we were encouraged to skip legally mandated breaks, out the fear that taking our breaks would be used against us when deciding who would be able to get better hours or make it to full time.
