Buyer beware in the Midwest!

Pros

Pay scale is above market. Good benefits program. Good merchandise discount. Outside of the Midwest I believe this to be a decent company to work for.

Cons

I can't speak to other district's but I would have to recommend against anyone working in the Midwest for this company. DM is more interested in looking good to upper management than in developing or even working with direct reports. DM says all the right things and will sell you a great line at the out set. DM always says to reach out if you have any needs but will criticize and even belittle you if you do actually ever reach out. DM will try to develop relationships within your store with subordinates with the sole aim of having eyes and ears in your store. DM creates and looks for drama and will launch a preemptive HR investigation against you should they ever feel like you question their leadership. DM and west HR have an unprofessional personal relationship and will turn anything they can against you. Management turn over in the Midwest is some of the highest I have ever seen and this should speak volumes to you. I've seen professional manager's quit with little or no notice and few exterior opportunities rather than continue working for the Midwest DM. Again this should speak for itself. I have met and worked a few quality and contentious individuals that I have much respect for. But again that outside of the Midwest district. I would never recommend working in the Midwest for this company to anyone at this point.

Was once a great place

Pros

Swatch Group once was a great place to work. The entire group was like a family. Free watches and good discounts. Friendly atmosphere.

Cons

Management is the worse. They have no idea what they are doing and promoting themselves. If you have no skills, you will be promoted. If you are part of the inner circle you will get promoted. They fire the best and keep the slackers and those who have zero opinion. The brand manager has no clue about marketing or the business of swatch. No wonder no one is moving with the brand to Miami. Beware of management, they are always up to no good and belittling employees to make themselves look good.

Pros

Racking up frequent flyer points (but only on cheap flights like Virgin and jet star, never qantas) Hotels on permitted list are generally 5 stars.

Cons

They installed a gps tracking app, mobile iron, on my work phone so they could track employees location 24/7. No company credit cards. You must pay for all your own expenses including hotels then go through a long system to get money back. They are often rejected for silly things after submission so you can be left thousands out of pocket while you wait. Next to no training or induction. Rude unskilled managers. They treat employees disrespectfully and don't take HR complaints seriously. Bad unfriendly culture. No team work. Job description states travel is once a month but it is more like 3 times a month which is a huge financial strain when they don't give you a corporate credit card and Pay is monthly. Bonus is small and only annually No product allowance...you can buy at wholesale which is still too expensive Archaic systems. I was told to print my emails to file them in a display book as there was not enough storage to keep the electronic copies?? In 2017?? They will give you obsolete tech/tools of the trade such as an iphone5/dirty second hand laptops.
