Pros

Under previous ownership and for most of my time there, it was one of the best work environments I've ever had. They screen for the best qualified applicants for the job and then have confidence that you'll perform well with a fair amount of independence and autonomy. International work force with employees and interns from all over the globe.

Cons

Under current ownership things have been left to rot. Focus is on the bottom line and not the welfare of its employees. Tipped employees make nothing off of third party booking guests. Terrible health insurance, high turnover and awful food in the employee cafeteria. If you have a writeup, it remains in your record for one year which eliminates any possibility of transfer or advancement. They often passed over many qualified employees for advancement and hired from the outside, creating an atmosphere of contempt and mistrust. Many employees had been there since the hotel opened. Those old timers including myself have mostly left. Quel dommage, it used to be "magnifique."

Pros

Global, beautiful properties, travel opportunities, employees perks, good training programme, some great managers and general managers

Cons

-Outrageous behaviours from expats in certain countries, especially in less developed countries like Vietnam & Cambodia. -Depending on the owner, some properties are well maintained with sufficient staffing and good culture. Some are nightmares where owners refuses to pay for maintenance, try to get out of paying bonuses and generally doesn't care about employees welfare. -Worst experience : Being robbed of cash in Cambodia by an internal staff while staying at hotel's provided accommodation . Another incident was being refused to pay year end bonus and last month salary as well as returning personal belonging, until I had to seek a lawyer's hep to draft a legal letter demanding for these to be paid and returned. *HQ people are nice but not in touch with property level. Overloaded and fear for their own jobs after the recent acquisitions.
